On June 10, 1998, I flew around several Hawaiian islands with Chacy Eveland of Eveland Aero Services (808/833-2113) in a Cessna 172 (N734NH), so that I could get the hang of flying around Hawaii (island reporting service, wearing life vests in the plane, etc.) and get better at handling the common high winds (18 knots gusting to 22 knots was one of the ATIS reports from the day). The goal was for Chacy to be comfortable with me flying his plane around the Hawaiian islands without him or one of his instructors along.

First we flew to Lanai and did several touch and go landings. Here is the one picture I took of Lanai, after we took off again:

After Lanai we flew to Maui, which is coming into view here:

Here is Maui again, near McGregor Point:

This was taken along the north coast of Molokai:

After some touch and go landings and a short lunch stop on Molokai, we returned to Oahu for the usual checkout items (steep turns, stalls, slow flight) and a few more landings at Ford Island (in Pearl Harbor). In this picture we are approaching Oahu:

After 3.9 hours of flying, we were back in Honolulu and I was signed off for flying around the Hawaiian islands...
